Using windows 7 laptop as wifi router

January 31, 2012

I just started using my dell laptop as a wifirouter by creating and adhoc network and then connecting the wired lan port to internet. When I created the adhoc network It just asked me if I wanted to enable internet connection sharing on the adhoc network. To surf the internet I just connect my cell phone to the adhoc network. This is a great way to create a wifi hotspot for your cellphone or tablet if you’re out traveling and don’t want to bring a wifi router apart from all your other stuff that you already lug around 🙂

Xperia mini pro a good phone

January 27, 2012

I tried an Xperia Mini Pro today. It feels as the phone has a good build quality. The keyboard is nice to type on. The keys give a good distanct response when pressed. The directionaly keys make it easy to navigate within text which you have written. I also found the screen to be of great viewing quality despite it’s size. The quality of the digitizer was also good leading to a screen which responds quickly to finger presses.

Why are there not more andriod apps which work on ofline mode?

January 26, 2012

I live in Sweden which is a sparsely populated country this fact contributes to the fact that there’s not always cellular coverage in Sweden especially in the countryside. It’s a problem that many andriod apps rely on having Internet access. It is important to design apps to work offline with as many features as possible to make it usable offline. Off line apps also works better in developing countries and emergency situations when there’s a limited supply of power and might be problems with cellular coverage.

I think andriod market and governmental agencies which deal with telecommunications should encourage andriod developers to make more apps which works offline.

Found an interesting software for 3D Solid modeling.

January 25, 2012

I found an interesting Swedish software for 3D Solid modeling. It’s called “EMCAD” and is supposed to be more user friendly than other applications such as AutoCAD. Has anyone ever heard of companies using this software for 3D modeling?. A link to the software vendor is attached in the post, though I’m not sure if there’s an English translation for the webpage…

You can find the software at:
